PawFans ("we," "us") helps supporters follow rescues, sponsor animals, and send tips. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it.
What we collect
- Account data: name, email, hashed password, role (fan or rescue), and optional profile details.
- Rescue content: public profiles, animal listings, posts, photos, and care-fund goals you publish.
- Engagement: animals you follow or save, likes, comments, streaks, and notification preferences.
- Messages: direct messages between supporters and rescues, including optional paid/unlocked content metadata.
- Payments: sponsorship, tip, and subscription records processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers.
- Device & usage: IP address, browser type, and basic logs for security, rate limiting, and abuse prevention.
How we use it
- Operate your account and personalize your feed and For You hub
- Process sponsorships, tips, subscriptions, and creator payouts via Stripe Connect
- Deliver email verification, password reset, and optional engagement digests
- Moderate content, investigate reports, and protect users and animals
- Improve the product with aggregated, non-identifying analytics
What we share
Payments go to verified rescues through Stripe Connect. We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with service providers (hosting, email, payments) under contract, or when required by law or to prevent fraud and harm.
Your choices
- Update profile details in your account settings
- Cancel subscriptions through your account or Stripe customer portal where available
- Delete your account in Studio or My Impact → Account → Delete account
- Email verification is required before tipping, subscribing, or messaging rescues
Cookies & local storage
We use session cookies for login, optional home-view preferences, and PWA caching for faster loads. You can control cookies in your browser settings.
Children
PawFans is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
International users
If you access PawFans from outside the United States, your data may be processed in the U.S. We aim to honor applicable privacy rights (including GDPR and CCPA requests where relevant).
